It's almost as if the concept of "all-mountain" was invented specifically for the Deacon range of skis! Whatever the conditions - long, intermediate or short, energetic turns, at a cruising pace or at the extreme limit, on soft or extra-hard slopes - this ski will please any ambitious skier who loves to ride. The Deacon with its 72 mm runner width was designed for skiers who like to carve dynamically in all radii and who also like to let the skis go from time to time. With a new geometry that combines a wider tip with a shorter tip and tail rocker, the completely redesigned Deacon 72 Black excels in all radii of curvature. Its two millimetre narrower skate width allows for even faster edge changes with less effort. This versatility is made possible by the use of Tailored Carbon Tip. Carbon fibers applied with Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) - Völkl's own proprietary fiber placement technique - optimally influence the cornering behavior. The thickness and arrangement of the fibers determine the level of force and energy storage needed in the exact areas where it is needed. The high agility offered by the tip effect is particularly beneficial here. It allows the ski to start turning as soon as the turn is initiated, in a measured and controlled manner, depending on the edge angle adopted. This design also allows us to offer a light ski without losing any stability. Finally, the TFP offers our manufacturers the possibility of adapting each ski length to the specific requirements of different target groups. The entire Deacon range benefits from the 3D.Glass technology integrated into the front and back of the ski. The heart of the ski is our proven multi-layer wood core made of a mixture of poplar and beech. Two layers of Titanal along the entire length of the ski give it its customary liveliness. The sliding properties of the Deacon 72 Black are further enhanced by the new R-Motion 3 GW binding. The shortened plate combined with a larger hole pattern provides a more direct and powerful transmission of power while promoting faster edge changes. But the key feature of this ski is the two adjustable rear screws that allow the binding to slide easily. The ski is then able to progress smoothly through the entire flex line with improved edge grip and without getting stuck. Overall, the Deacon 72 Black can be manoeuvred with significantly less effort.
