COLLTEX
History of Colltex
Colltex has been firmly established in the canton of Glarus, in the heart of Switzerland and the Glarus Alps dominated by Mount Tödi, for almost 70 years. In the age of globalisation, Colltex has decided to remain true to its roots, but it is also an innovative company that knows how to develop skins through innovation and new products.
Colltex skins
A Colltex skin is a high quality textile product. It has to work perfectly in different temperatures, applications and snow types.
The pile side of a skin is made of 100% mohair (angora goat), a mix (65% mohair /35% polyamide) or 100% synthetic. For beginners and advanced ski tourers we recommend a mix with good climbing characteristics, while an experienced ski tourer can choose a 100% mohair skin with optimal gliding characteristics.
Colltex uses hotmelt or acrylate as an adhesive layer. Colltex recommends hotmelt to ski tourers who are aware of the wind, weather and weeks of touring. When not in use, a net is inserted to protect the adhesive surfaces. The acrylic liner is a good choice for recreational ski tourers. It can be used without a protective net.
